The Christmas season is quickly approaching. This means lots of snow, eating great food and spending time with family. It also means spending lots of time trying to find the perfect gift for the loved ones in your house. As a blogger, there are a lot of Christmas presents we’d like to see our blog receive. Here are a few things that I would like to receive for my blog.
- A 1000% increase in visitors
How nice would it be to wake up and see that instead of the normal 100 visitors you now have 1000 visitors. - The average visitor stays for 10 minutes
Now that you’re getting 1000 visitors by the time you wake up, all of your visitors stick around for 10 minutes each. They’re reading your articles and interacting on your site. - minimum of 30 comments per post
One of the best ways to see if people like your articles is to see the comments on them. A great Christmas gift for me would be at least 30 comments per post. This is a great way to see if people actually like what your writing or not. - Only important emails
Instead getting spammed with a lot of useless emails requesting links, asking for posts, etc… all of your emails are extremely important. People wanting to give you stuff, people wanting to buy advertising on your site and things like that. This would make your day a lot easier because you no longer have to wad through the useless emails. - Your articles get referenced by professional bloggers everyday
Darren, John Chow, and Daniel reference your articles every day increasing traffic even more. - Your site becomes Page Rank 10
Because of all the backlinks from popular site your Page Rank goes up to 10. This also means that you can sell your advertising for a lot more. - You can become a professional blogger
Because of everything above it is now feasible to become a professional blogger. You can shed your job and start writing full time and actually make a good living off of it.
If all of these things were given to me for Christmas I would be the happiest blogger around. Just imagine if you woke up on Christmas morning and even one of these things happened. But thats just what I would want for my Blogging Christmas. If you could have anything what would you want?
Yesterday I talked about why you should post on the weekends and today I’m going to play the devil’s advocate and take the other side.
There are a number of good reasons to post on the weekend. It can help bring in new readers, keep you posting consistently, and will help you differentiate your self from other bloggers in your niche. A question you might have is with all of these plus’ how can you say you shouldn’t post on the weekends?
While there aren’t as many reasons not to post on the weekends there still are a few and here are some of them.
Not as much traffic
Most people don’t receive as much traffic on the weekend as they do during the week. This may be that their readers surf the web more during work and spend the weekend with family. Because of the smaller traffic numbers these people think that they should release their best posts when there will be more readers to read them.
Spend the time organizing
Instead of posting, use your time to better your blog. One of the best things you can do is organize your week ahead of you. Organizing your week is a great way to stay atop of your posting schedule, it can help you post daily, create better content and improve your blog.
While I think that you should post on the weekends there are a few reasons why you shouldn’t. If you have any reasons why you shouldn’t post on the weekend feel free to add it in the comments section. If you think I’m totally nuts you can voice that too ![]()
