BlogOne of the ongoing debates in the ‘blogosphere’ is whether or not to post on the weekends. Some people say that since their traffic generally goes down on the weekends they should save their best posts for when their site is receiving the most amount of people.

Others say that posting on the weekend is a great way to get new readers since a lot of people are home during the weekend. My opinion on the matter is that the weekend is a great time to organize your posts and thoughts and maybe post about things outside of your niche.

Here are a few reasons why you SHOULD post on the weekends.

Consistency is King
Some people say that posting consistently is important and I would have to agree with this, especially for a newer blog. Posting consistently can increase your feed numbers, increase the number of visitors that you have and increase the number of comments that you get. Posting on the weekends proves that you can be a consistent blogger and this is always a good thing.

Bring in new readers
Some people work so hard during the week that they don’t have time to read blogs and surf the web. These people do all of this during the weekend. To capture these readers you need to post when they read, the weekends. A lot of people who don’t post on the weekends say that their traffic goes down so why should they post? My question is, is their traffic going down because they don’t post?

If other bloggers aren’t doing it, you should
One of the problems with beginner bloggers is that they jump on the blogging bandwagon and don’t think of the consequences. They think that if other bloggers don’t post on the weekends that they should follow this. GET OFF THAT BANDWAGON. If other bloggers don’t post on the weekend this is an excellent reason why you should. If you post on the weekend then you may get their readers who leave their blog because they don’t post on the weekend.

These are a few of the reasons why I post on the weekend but what I’m really interested in is whether or not you post on the weekend?

    I’ve been posting on weekends for over a year, and it’s a great way to keep readers coming back. I’ve noticed that many bloggers who take weekends off soon start to take Monday and Tuesdays off. Then, after a few months, they stop posting altogether.

    That said, I don’t actually write a post everyday. Instead, I make good use of the scheduled release option and write a day or two in advance. This also gives me an opportunity to write some drafts and set them aside for later editing and release. The best posts are never rushed :)

    I actually am going to start posting on the weekends, mainly things that are off topic from my niche, like personal stuff, etc.

    And I am with you though, I once had a high day of subscribers on a weekend. They can be pretty good.

    I don’t usually let it stop me from posting.

    Um, duh.

    This duh is for me, I didn’t even think about keeping a draft or two back or even to try a scheduled release. Thank you Jason, that’s a good idea.

    I’m real new to Blogging, but not to writing or SEO or web mastering. Getting all these skills together to actually make my blog a work worthy of looking at is a whole other deal.

    I’m learning a lot from visiting people that visit my blog. I feel it’s a good think to look at their blogs if they show up on my scanners, and I am actually getting some valuable information for it.

    This rocks. Thanks to Jason, Make and Adam here.

    I’ve noticed the same thing. My friend didn’t post on the weekends and then he decided not to post on mondays or fridays and it didn’t stop there. Scheduling your posts is very important. I often will write a lot of posts on one day and then schedule it throughout the week.

    @Mike
    I just found that writing on the weekend was a great way to keep your readers. I have found that my subscriber counts don’t drop off nearly as much as they did before I posted on the weekends now that I do post on the weekends. I highly suggest it for anyone who blogs.

    @Werd
    It sounds like you have a strong background that will make you a great blogger I look forward to it. One of the best things you can do is study your visitors. These are the people you want to gear your site towards, not search engines.

    All of you have great sites btw, nice designs and content.

    Yes, I also noticed that seldom bloggers post their new posts in weekend. According to the Google Analytics, my blog’s traffic surely goes down during the weekend. All of us know that why, but to me, whether it is weekend, if i have something to write, I definitely will post it. :)
